The Beatles Album - 1

I heard of this album from my brother because he downloaded it into his iPod touch. I was listening through the album and I enjoyed it very much. I liked how there was multiple types of tempos in the album. What I mean is that you would heard a song that is somewhat sad, and then hear a song that is something you would dance to. Some of my favorites are Hey Jude, Something, Eleanor Rigby, and Help!. There were others that I enjoyed but then I would have said almost the entire album. I feel like this album, and in general for Beatles songs, is all about of the lyrics. In the sad songs, the lyrics are really great because you can understand how the person in the song or the situation in the song is really sad. Some examples of the sad songs in this album are Hey Jude, Something, and Eleanor Rigby. Then, you hear songs that lift up the mood such as come together, Help!, and Yellow Submarine. So this is the album that I am recommending, although I am pretty sure you heard of the Beatles, this album should be recommended because it has most of the top hit Beatles songs.

Winter poem

A snowflake falls from the clouds above.
It twirls and glides through the air like a feather.
Out of control and heading straight to the ground.
You extend your arms and open your hands.
The snowflake maneuvers away. You run to catch it, but it continues to glide further.
It is a foot away from the ground, you hurry.
1 inch away, but it falls to the ground.
And after a second it is gone.

Where did you go JD?

J.D. Salinger said that he was once the type of person who brags about there abilities, and that is sort of weird becasue now he is try to hide from all the fame. Through all this hiding, he has been one of the most famous and popular writers in history. I feel like if I was in the same situation that I would of ended up the same way. this because I dream of things like fame, but once you get it, you realize it isnt as great as it seems. A lot of his fans started to call his house and write letters to him because of a something in his most famous book, The Catcher in the Rye. Back in the 1950's , people didnt like the book and its ideas of phonies, and some places like schools and libraries added it to their banned book list. Now, people love the idea because there is a lot of trouble and mystery in our nations government and even the world around us. This has effected pop culture in many ways, one way is when the reasons why a person killed John Lennon was because something he read in the Catcher in the Rye. Also, more then usual people have been questioning the government and other superiors on the truth.

Holden

Right now in this part of the book, I feel like Holden is very rebellious and annoying. He is always thinking badly about others and never thinking about ways that he is bad person. One big thing he does wrong is try and find the perfect person when in reality nobody is perfect. He is still really immature, even though he thinks he is more mature then everyone else. He has never really had many friends and is always very bitter because of it. I think that if he did the things normal teenagers would do, then he would say and do the same phony things he hates. Although, I do find him annoying at times , we do share some similarities. A big one is the want for independence, because I feel like I am mature enough and that I am able to handle it. I feel like Holden doesn't knows what he is talking about because he has never experienced theses things that other teenagers experience like having multiple friends and doing fun activities. Also, he doesn't say how his relationship with his parents is, so it most likely inst good. This is probably why he tries to act out so much, because he never had people to teach him about good and bad.

My red hunting hat

My red hunting hat is to hunt for certain goals or achievements in life. I think that school is part of my red hunting hat because it will help me get to far places by getting a good education and helping me get a job or career in the future. There are a lot of things that I want to achieve before I die. Somethings I may or may not be able to achieve, but that's why it is a hunt and I have to work to get their. I think the big difference between my red hunting hat and Holden's red hunting hat is that his was only a dollar, and mine isn't worth money, but it is worth more because of all the effort I have to put in to hunt down these goals. I am still uncertain by what Holden's mean by his red hunting hat, but I believe that mine is more significant because his hat is only a dollar and it is simple to obtain, and mine will take years of work and determination to hunt. So that is my red hunting hat, I actually could have many red hunting hats, but the one about my life achievements covers all of the others.

Changes in the classroom

I think that some changes that could help make the class more exciting would be to have more discussions, and activities that include everyone in the classroom sharing their opinions. This will probably help everyone in the class to start thinking of the books and the topics that we are discussing. I would like this because it will help me gain interest for all the books that we will read and all the class discussions that we will have. Also, if I don't understand something in a book or topic that is being covered, then I am sure that if we discuss it then I will have a better understanding of the topic. Something I believe should be reduced in the class is writing in our notebook. I feel like a lot of stuff we write down in a notebook can be unnecessary, like questions or answers. Instead of writing down certain things in our notebooks, we can discuss them as a class instead. Not only will this help with having more discussions, but it can also help save trees by using less paper. So those are the changes that I believe can help improve the class, and make it simpler for everyone.

Thankful for a classmate!

I am thankful for Javier Campos. There are many reasons why I am thankful for my fellow classmate, Javier Campos, and one reason is because he was my one of my group partners for the quotes for The Crucible and The Road. He was a great contributor to the group work and was very cooperative and without that, the group would have had a harder time doing the assignment those days. Also, during the group work for the quotes for The Crucible and The Road, he shared his book with me by letting me read the quotes from the books. Certainly, he helped me a lot in that situation because if I didn't do the quotes then my grade would have dropped incredibly.  Another reason that I am thankful that Javier Campos is my classmate is because if I forget what the homework is then Javier always tells me what it is, which shows that he pays attention in class and is a good listener. If he didn't tell me what the homework was then I wouldn't even do most of my homework because a lot of times I daze off and don't hear what the due assignment is. Also, Javier never gets annoyed or bothered if I ask him what the homework is, which I am really thankful for. Another reason, is that he is very respectful and does not interrupt the class and the teacher. If Javier was very disrespectful, then he would most likely interrupt the teacher a lot, but he isn't so he doesn't make it difficult for everyone in the class to learn. Javier Campos is the classmate I am really thankful for, but that doesn't mean I don't care about all my other classmates. I am also thankful for all my other classmates, because they are my classmates and I learn with them.

Theme of The Road

One of the themes in the road, and possibly the biggest one is humanity. I say this because in the book everything is has gone bad due to some massive event that caused the sun to be blocked out, the vegetation to die, and the society go mad. Now we wont be able to recongnize one another because of how the event made everything chaotic making us do things we would have neve thought of doing. I know everybody has principles or things they would never do, but in times like these would you steal or kill if it benefited you and your family. Another thing that humans have that makes us not as human is our greed. Some people have an insatiable desire for money and wealth, and they are willing to do bad things to get the money and wealth. An example would be a bank  robber, this is because the bank robber is taking the money from the bank that belongs to people, and he only wants it for his own selfish greed. That is one of the many themes of The Road, but it certainly is a big one because this is what will eventually bring us to our doom, not a meteor or a bomb, but how we are able to live after without working together.

Letter to Charles Bukowski

Dear Charles Bukowski,

I have read your poem and I have a big question to ask you. How come you are predicting all these things to happen, but you didn't do anything else about it? I believe that this is a possible future but at your time, didn't you get the thought of mentioning this to people and convincing them about it? Right now in my life, I do believe that this is  going to become reality unless we do something about it, yet people don't seem to care. I believe that when you say "this" you are talking about the world and its many problems. Some problems that you have mentioned is the economy and how it is is terrible shape right now. Another thing  is the environment and how it has suffered through large amounts of waste being created as well as carbon emissions. Also, I believe that you were talking about violence as well which has always been in issue in the world, but due to the struggles that will develop for people in their lives, then most likely there will be more violence due to lack of resources or jobs. So, that is what I think of your poem and I believe that you are speaking the truth of our future, but there is still hope.

Father and Son

In The Road, the relationship between the father and his son is very weak because the apocalypse has gotten in the way of them actually bonding in a normal way. Although the father still wants to create that bond between him and his son, it is difficult for him because the apocalypse has made everything bad and the father believes that survival is the most important part. I think he still lacks effort in this because when his son asks him something he responds with no emotion, almost like he is not even paying attention to his son. Also, I believe that its not just that the father lacks effort into bonding, its also that the son is already more mature then he should be at that age due to the whole apocalypse. I noticed this because he asks questions like if they are going to die or if the soda he drank will be the last one he'll have. Also, he has gone through all of this and is still able to keep himself controlled in most situations. I believe that the relationship between the father and the son will soon begin to become weaker and weaker because they will lose all hope and realize that they probably won't survive.

John Proctor- Hero or Stooge?

I believe that John Procter is a hero. He is a hero because he is against all of the witch executions. He doesn't believe in all the non sense that the church is telling the people. He does not like Reverend Parris, which is good because he knows that Parris is a control freak and acts really strict to make people follow the word of god. Although he is helping in a way because he is against all the executions and accusations of witchcraft, he has made some mistakes. The biggest mistake was probably the one in which he commits adultery with Abigail, his former servant. I think that he is full of regret because he seems to care a lot about his wife, and he puts so much effort into trying to set her free of being a witch. The book makes him seem like he is the type of person that doesn't mean what he says, because in the story he tells Abigail that he has no feelings for her but the book makes it seem like he is not telling the truth. Besides if he didn't love his wife would he have put so much effort into trying to get her out of jail, or just go back with Abigail.

"Sinners in the Hands of A Angry God" thoughts

I believe that the things that these people are told is insane because in these days the Catholic/Christian faith make God seem like a very generous and forgiving person. If I was a kid in that time I would probably believe everything that I am told because I remember that when I was a kid , I believed anything that someone told me. I also think that this is really unbelievable because people always sin and yet there is never these very severe consequences that ministers and reverends speak about. I have a feeling that most of these priests or reverends kind of exaggerated there stories a bit just for power and to put fear in the people. I think that this type of  fear in the people helped the priests and reverends to gain power and to be able to control more in a town or village. Although it is bad to lie to the people and putting in fear into them, I still think that it was sort of necessary because back then there was no law so religion had to control what people did in life. If there was no religion and fear then people would go around doing whatever they want and they could get away with it really easily.

Arrivals...There goes the neighborhood

When Christopher Columbus arrived at North America he believed he had landed in India and so that's how we originally got the name Indian for the Native Americans from a long time ago. The story or writing that my English 2 class used for Christopher Columbus made him seem like a good person. He seemed to me to be just a possibly young explorer who wanted only to explore and make discoveries. Then all of this changed when my teacher showed my class a part of the writing that was left out that exposed what his real intentions were. I don't understand how he can just appear in some place that he doesn't know too much about and then thinks that he can just do whatever they want with the natives there. I would never imagine do something like that to a person, thinking they are just for the taking like they are just an object. Christopher Columbus destroyed the native Americans way of life, because of greed. They had everything going fine for them because they worked with nature to survive, but just like that, because of 1 man they ended up being murdered and had their land taken.
