Speaking of Courage

I believe that the chapter "Speaking of Courage" is talking about courage because it is all about Norman Bowker and his life after the war. Norman talks about things that happened in the war and one of the stories was about how Kiowa sunk into a field of feces and drowned. I believe the courageous part is that he is able to live in this society and not go crazy after all that happened. Although he is not completely fine and mentally healthy, he is still handling the post war very well. Some ways you can see he isn't mentally healthy is that he would drive around in a car around a huge lake near where he lives. This isn't healthy because normal people don't ride around in a car just driving around. I think a big courageous part isn't this book has to do with Tim O'Brien because he usually comes out of the story to talk to us about himself, and that just shows how he was able to handle the war mentally. I believe that Tim O'Brien view of what is courageous is correct but not completely because he talks about courage as in that he is able to control himself in society, but there also should be a fear in it and I believe that if there was a fear it would have to be the fear that people don't go through what happened to him.

Memoir

The memoir that I have chose to talk about is called Christmas by Talik B. from New Jersey. One thing that really makes this memoir great is how detailed it is and how it put you in the persons shoes just by all the details about how the person feels, their surroundings and their moods. An example would be about her and talking about feeling her eyelids open and then noticing the light on the writers digital clock. Also, the writer is very specific about the surroundings so we feel that we are there and experiencing it. An example would be when she notices that the time is 3:46 on the writers digital clock. There is also a decent amount of dialogue where characters or people interact. Also, the words are not just saying what they are saying. They are basically having a conversation within the memoir which makes it feel realistic. The author also makes it seem more like we are there because the writer will be talking and just telling what happened, but then the writer would stop the story and start to talk about how she feels about a certain thing.  An example would be that she starts to think in her head that she doesnt care that poeple tell her about getting good grades.

Vietnam War

There were many reasons why we entered the Vietnam War, and some of them make some sort of sense while people believe it was completely useless to fight. One reason why the united states entered the war was because of the fear of communism. The United States feared that there would be a "domino effect" in which countries that were taken over and turned into communist countries, would lead to the United States being turned into a communist country. This seems like a decent reason to enter the war, but the outcome certainly made us regret entering, causing lots of people to die, Americans and innocent Vietnamese citizens. Another reason was that the United States felt that they needed to help the Vietnamese people in that the French were very harsh and were making the lives of these Vietnamese citizens very difficult and a huge struggle. This was obviously a bad reason because the Vietnamese citizens would sometimes be working with the Viet Cong and helping them by telling them our locations and supplying them with weapons and food. Although this was a bad idea, we couldn't let the Vietnamese be treated in this way, also because we had some allies in Vietnam.

If daisy was our narrator

I am just  lying down near Jordan when all of a sudden Nick and Tom arrive. I act as if I really excited to see him, although I am not as excited as I show. I still cant take my mind of Tom and all the things I am going through with him. I introduce him to Jordan as Ms.Baker, surprisingly he does not recognize who she is, I thought that for sure Nick would realize who Jordan Baker, the women professional golfer, is. After chatting for a while and getting to catch up about what was going on in our lives, I still didn't care as much as I had shown, I had to many worries. Honestly, Nick and I are not even very close at all family wise and personally. I mean he is only my second cousin twice removed. After all that I decide to move the group out to the patio near the garden. As we walk out the door, Nick mentions Gatsby and all of a sudden I get a chill in my body and I couldn't help but try and make more conversation of this. He said that Gatsby is his neighbor, but that was all that he said about him. I felt like continuing the conversation, but I felt like they didn't want to talk much about it anymore, so I dropped it. We were at the patio waiting for some beverages when the butler comes in without any drinks and tells Tom that he has a phone call. I know that its from that girl from New York, I just know it. After a couple of seconds of talking to Nick, I decide to go in and check on Tom and just understand whats happening on the phone.I leave Nick and Jordan on the patio and I rush to see Tom.

The American Dream

http://www.ego4u.com/en/read-on/countries/usa/american-dream

The american dream today is all about the individual and only that individual. The american dream is different for everybody in the U.S. Some people want wealth, others want fame, and others want a family. This is a typical american dream, but that doesn't mean it is good for our nation. This is because people only start to think for themselves and forgot about problems that don't exactly belong to them, but are part of the U.S. Some examples are that poverty is all around the U.S. and that the environment is being harmed everyday and getting worse over time. My american dream is sort of typical, in that I hope to be successful and have a family, but I also realize that I cant just work to reach my goals, I also have to help fix the problems in our nation right now. In theses days, it has become more about wealth and fame then anything else. This shows how people continue to be focused on themselves and their own goals. I believe that anybody can achieve their goals and live the american dream, but for some it takes more hard work and dedication then others, due to the opportunities you get.

The Beatles Album - 1

I heard of this album from my brother because he downloaded it into his iPod touch. I was listening through the album and I enjoyed it very much. I liked how there was multiple types of tempos in the album. What I mean is that you would heard a song that is somewhat sad, and then hear a song that is something you would dance to. Some of my favorites are Hey Jude, Something, Eleanor Rigby, and Help!. There were others that I enjoyed but then I would have said almost the entire album. I feel like this album, and in general for Beatles songs, is all about of the lyrics. In the sad songs, the lyrics are really great because you can understand how the person in the song or the situation in the song is really sad. Some examples of the sad songs in this album are Hey Jude, Something, and Eleanor Rigby. Then, you hear songs that lift up the mood such as come together, Help!, and Yellow Submarine. So this is the album that I am recommending, although I am pretty sure you heard of the Beatles, this album should be recommended because it has most of the top hit Beatles songs.

Winter poem

A snowflake falls from the clouds above.
It twirls and glides through the air like a feather.
Out of control and heading straight to the ground.
You extend your arms and open your hands.
The snowflake maneuvers away. You run to catch it, but it continues to glide further.
It is a foot away from the ground, you hurry.
1 inch away, but it falls to the ground.
And after a second it is gone.
