Vietnam War

There were many reasons why we entered the Vietnam War, and some of them make some sort of sense while people believe it was completely useless to fight. One reason why the united states entered the war was because of the fear of communism. The United States feared that there would be a "domino effect" in which countries that were taken over and turned into communist countries, would lead to the United States being turned into a communist country. This seems like a decent reason to enter the war, but the outcome certainly made us regret entering, causing lots of people to die, Americans and innocent Vietnamese citizens. Another reason was that the United States felt that they needed to help the Vietnamese people in that the French were very harsh and were making the lives of these Vietnamese citizens very difficult and a huge struggle. This was obviously a bad reason because the Vietnamese citizens would sometimes be working with the Viet Cong and helping them by telling them our locations and supplying them with weapons and food. Although this was a bad idea, we couldn't let the Vietnamese be treated in this way, also because we had some allies in Vietnam.
