Memoir

The memoir that I have chose to talk about is called Christmas by Talik B. from New Jersey. One thing that really makes this memoir great is how detailed it is and how it put you in the persons shoes just by all the details about how the person feels, their surroundings and their moods. An example would be about her and talking about feeling her eyelids open and then noticing the light on the writers digital clock. Also, the writer is very specific about the surroundings so we feel that we are there and experiencing it. An example would be when she notices that the time is 3:46 on the writers digital clock. There is also a decent amount of dialogue where characters or people interact. Also, the words are not just saying what they are saying. They are basically having a conversation within the memoir which makes it feel realistic. The author also makes it seem more like we are there because the writer will be talking and just telling what happened, but then the writer would stop the story and start to talk about how she feels about a certain thing.  An example would be that she starts to think in her head that she doesnt care that poeple tell her about getting good grades.

Vietnam War

There were many reasons why we entered the Vietnam War, and some of them make some sort of sense while people believe it was completely useless to fight. One reason why the united states entered the war was because of the fear of communism. The United States feared that there would be a "domino effect" in which countries that were taken over and turned into communist countries, would lead to the United States being turned into a communist country. This seems like a decent reason to enter the war, but the outcome certainly made us regret entering, causing lots of people to die, Americans and innocent Vietnamese citizens. Another reason was that the United States felt that they needed to help the Vietnamese people in that the French were very harsh and were making the lives of these Vietnamese citizens very difficult and a huge struggle. This was obviously a bad reason because the Vietnamese citizens would sometimes be working with the Viet Cong and helping them by telling them our locations and supplying them with weapons and food. Although this was a bad idea, we couldn't let the Vietnamese be treated in this way, also because we had some allies in Vietnam.
