Speaking of Courage

I believe that the chapter "Speaking of Courage" is talking about courage because it is all about Norman Bowker and his life after the war. Norman talks about things that happened in the war and one of the stories was about how Kiowa sunk into a field of feces and drowned. I believe the courageous part is that he is able to live in this society and not go crazy after all that happened. Although he is not completely fine and mentally healthy, he is still handling the post war very well. Some ways you can see he isn't mentally healthy is that he would drive around in a car around a huge lake near where he lives. This isn't healthy because normal people don't ride around in a car just driving around. I think a big courageous part isn't this book has to do with Tim O'Brien because he usually comes out of the story to talk to us about himself, and that just shows how he was able to handle the war mentally. I believe that Tim O'Brien view of what is courageous is correct but not completely because he talks about courage as in that he is able to control himself in society, but there also should be a fear in it and I believe that if there was a fear it would have to be the fear that people don't go through what happened to him.
